My Favorite Places - Area Four

Area Four (Cafe/Bakery and Restaurant/bar) is one of my weekday go to spots in Technology Square on Main St. in Cambridge, just a few blocks up the street from the Kendall/MIT stop. Their coffees, teas and other drinks derived from them (lattes, etc) are always fresh, and have the right amount of balance between strength and flavor. They also offer different suppliers for the coffees, with their house blend and a rotating guest blend as well. In the bakery, I've yet to have a pastry that hasn't been delicious and they have an astounding selection as well, with choices such as regular, almond and savory croissants, pain au chocolate, craquelin, sticky buns (the size of your head), smores bars and various kinds of cookies.

Cool Stuff: Galaxy Carpets by Schönstaub

Another section I'd like to do in this blog is to highlight things in design, art and architecture that I find cool or interesting. The honor of the first post in this series will be going to the Galaxy Carpets by Schonstaub. I'm a huge astronomy geek, so I realize that these likely won't appeal to everyone, especially with a price tag of $2,100, but it is definitely something I would blow my expendable income on. And it really ties the room together, does it not?

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Boston Bruins Re-Cap

As a fan, no matter how well your team is playing, you are never totally comfortable watching your team play with a one goal lead, especially when they are as defensively fragile as Arsenal, or played as poorly as they did in their last game, as the Bruins did on Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres. After having to deal with Arsenal leaving it late(ish) in the morning I was hoping the Bruins would be able to continue the dominance they demonstrated last season against the Maple Leafs and coast to a nice and easy victory.

Arsenal FC v Stoke City FC Re-Cap

Yesterday saw two of my favorites teams, Arsenal FC and the Boston Bruins took on Stoke City FC and the Toronto Maple Leafs. I started off the day at Lir watching the match with the Boston Gooners, the local AFC supporters group. Arsenal started with a few changes from the team that drew 2-2 with Liverpool in midweek, with Thomas Vermaelen, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Lukas Podolski dropping to the bench; with Laurent Koscielny, Abou Diaby, Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain taking their places.

Frightened Rabbit - Pedestrian Verse

One of my favorite bands has a new album coming out soon, their 4th studio album and first on Atlantic Records. So far after a few listens I'm really digging it, especially the final track 'Oil Slick', which has a great drum track, bass line and guitar inter-play. They'll be playing locally at the House of Blues (Boston) on April 2nd and Fete (Providence) April 3rd. You can check out the album here at the Guardian Music Blog. and check out 'Oil Slick' via YouTube

Welcome!

Time to finally get this blog up and at 'em after all these years of sitting around! I currently like and work in the Boston area so I will be looking to post about events going on about town, bars and restaurants I check out, as well as a bit of Arsenal FC, Bostons sports and some random musings.
